We are a small, highly professional, owner-managed family business located in Weil im Schönbuch in the Swabian region of Germany. We are dedicated to the surface refinement of elastomers – in fact, it’s what our name stands for: Oberflächenveredelung von Elastomeren.

Our history goes back to 1990, when founder Bernd Friedrich launched the business as a classic garage start-up. Today, we have developed into an experienced, innovative and high-performing company with around 35 employees. Innovations have always played an important role in our work.

To begin with, our founder developed a method to prevent friction issues using MoS2 powder or silicone oils. This makes the surfaces of elastomer seals even more effective. The company prospered by cleaning, coating and treating the seals in accordance with customer requirements. And from the very beginning, OVE offered comprehensive, customer-oriented service.

1995 was another milestone in the development of the young company: OVE applied plasma technology to the field of elastomers, enabling deep cleaning of the seals and even the production of PWIS-free surfaces. Other innovations to prevent excessive seal-related friction generated exponential growth for OVE Plasmatec, as the company is now called. One ground-breaking success is the application of an environmentally friendly, low-solvent anti-friction seal coating. This allows OVE to offer customers and users unbelievable improvements.

In 2001, OVE Plasmatec became the first company in the world to series produce seals for the automotive industry with an environmentally friendly anti-friction coating applied by a machine. Pre-treatment with low-pressure plasma is an essential step in this process.

Today, OVE Plasmatec processes approximately 80 million! elastomer seals for industrial use each month, making us one of the leading European companies for the surface refinement of elastomers. Over the years, we have always been guided by our pioneering spirit combined with our drive for further innovation. This keeps us flexible and agile.
